We are looking for motivated and passionate young individuals who are eager to contribute to a diverse and dynamic learning environment. If you are unsure of your eligibility or have any questions regarding our formal requirements, we encourage you to contact us at [email protected].
To apply through UWC Sweden, you must meet the following criteria:
Applicants must be between 16 and 18 years old at the time of enrolment. This typically aligns with students entering the final two years of secondary education, but specific age requirements may vary by UWC school or college. If you are applying for the academic years 2026-2028, you must be born between January 1, 2008 and September 1, 2010.

Applicants should be currently enrolled in, or have recently completed, 10th grade (first year of Swedish gymnasium or equivalent). Only students who are currently enrolled in the first or second year of high school (gymnasium) are eligible to apply for our scholarships. A strong academic record is important, but we also value a demonstrated commitment to learning beyond the classroom. We require applicants to have at least a C average in the theoretical subjects. This means that your merit from grade 9 should be at least 15 points per theoretical subject on average and at least about 240 points in total (or equivalent in international/foreign grading schemes).
Candidates applying through UWC Sweden must:
Swedish citizens living abroad who want to apply to UWC are encouraged to apply through the national committee of the country they live in. If there is no national committee or UWC school in your country of residence, or if you feel a much stronger connection to Sweden than to any other country, you should contact UWC Sverige before applying so that we can advise you on which country you should apply for a scholarship from.
While academic excellence is important, UWC seeks students who exhibit:
The resilience and adaptability needed for an international and rigorous residential educational experience.
UWC schools and colleges primarily use English as the language of instruction. While fluency is not required at the time of application, applicants are advised to attain a basic proficiency in English and demonstrate a willingness to improve their language skills.
Ready to Apply? If you meet the above criteria and are excited about the UWC experience, we encourage you to begin your application process. For more details, please visit our external application portal or contact us at [email protected].
Please note that you are only allowed to submit one application per academic year to study at UWC, even if you are eligible to apply via more than one UWC national committee.
We look forward to receiving your application and helping you embark on this life-changing journey!
If you don’t meet the criteria above, have a look at the UWC International site and find out more about other ways to apply to UWC.
